Mauro Parolini

Minister of Economic Development, Regione Lombardia

Mauro Parolini, first of six children, was born in Desenzano del Garda on May 17, 1958, where he lives up to now with his wife and three daughters. He got the diploma from High School Liceo Classico Bagatta of Desenzano and later obtained a degree in Civil Engineering at the Politecnico of Milano. He taught topography at the technical institute "Battisti" in Salò. He’s a freelance civil engineer.
From 1995 to 1999 he was provincial councilor in the Province of Brescia, and from 1999 Provincial Minister of Public Works, Traffic, School Building Construction and Public Education.
In 2004 and 2009 he was reconfirmed Provincial Minister in the Province of Brescia, with responsibility for Public Works and Mobility.
He introduced in 2000, first in Italy, a school voucher as support policy to families.
He also involved the social cooperation of the Province of Brescia in the management of roads and schools. He managed the over 2000 km road and motorway network in the province of Brescia promoting the adjusting of the network with great attention in order to limit craches.
A clear overview of problems and objectives and a daily work have been the characteristics of his commitment to help more easily the growth of the economy in the Province of Brescia and to improve the quality of life of its citizens.
In 2010 he run for the Lombardy Regional Council and he was the most voted of the Province of Brescia with 19087 preferences. In 2013 he was re-elected regional councilor.
In 2014 the President of the Lombardy Region, Roberto Maroni, appointed him Minister of Trade, Tourism and Tertiary and in 2015 Minister of Economic Development with responsibility for Design and Fashion.
